It’s so interesting to see just how much those past traumas changed them. Mostly they became so much harder, put up walls, made themselves more calloused. But at the same time it made them more vulnerable, made them hurt more at the small things, at the things that were once normal or that are normal for people like Gwen. They have these memories and their current employment and Gwen’s normality as a constant reminder that they are not normal, that they don’t fit in in a society that they sometimes so desperately want to be a part of. Instead, they have to stand on the edges, again and again saving a city and a society and a lifestyle that doesn’t want them and that they can’t cope with, watching from the outside as the life they wished for when they were younger passes by without them.

30 Day Torchwood Challenge
Day 3 - Your favourite episode.

2x12 - Fragments
Loved the flashbacks about how Jack, Tosh, Ianto and Owen got involved with Torchwood, especially the Torchwood Institute in the Victorian Age, how Jack saved Tosh from the UNIT (he recognised she is a genius, and remind me of what he told her in the Adam episode to make her take retcon), Owen losing his fiancé (I guess that explain why he tried so bad to be a jerk later on), and Ianto trying hard to get Jack’s attention, because after you worked for Torchwood you just can’t do any other job. And I love all episodes in which Rhys team up with Torchwood.

Other top favourite episodes of mine, in order (I know it’s not required, but I’m going to write them anyway):
3x05 - Day Five
2x09 - Something Borrowed
2x13 - Exit Wounds
2x04 - Meat
1x12 - Captain Jack Harkness
3x03 - Day Three
1x08 - They Keep Killing Suzie
2x11 - Adrift
2x05 - Adam
1x05 - Small Worlds
All these episodes have great plotting, are perfectly action-packed and really moved me.
Anyway, episodes’ quality is always so high that is really difficult to decide which are your favourite ones. I just want to watch all of them over and over again…
